Early Life and Education

Early Manifestations of Responsibility and Passion for Others’ Welfare

Life was not easy for the Zimba family, even though Towani’s father was employed. As the eldest child, Towani took on the role of providing for his family from a very young age. At just 12 years old, he ran small businesses, such as playing marble games and selling the marbles he won, to buy food for his family. His entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to his family were evident from a young age.

Football Talent

Towani was also a gifted football player from his primary school years. His skills and abilities on the field earned him a place on various football teams. He used the little money he earned from playing football to support his family, demonstrating his commitment to their well-being.

Professional Football Career and Service with the Malawi National Football Team

Towani’s exceptional football skills led him to join elite teams. He was recruited by CIVO Service Football Club, where he played for many years and won numerous personal awards and accolades. His talent also earned him a place on the Malawi National Football Team, known as THE FLAMES. Towani traveled and played for THE FLAMES in many countries, representing Malawi on the international stage.

Change of Career

After a successful football career, Towani decided to transition to a new path. He left professional football and joined the civil service, securing employment with the Ministry of Lands.

Turning Point

While working in the civil service, Towani faced a significant challenge when he was wrongfully accused of mishandling financial records. He was interdicted and spent three years at home without pay. During this difficult time, a friend invited him to a church for prayers, which marked the beginning of his spiritual journey. Towani started reading and studying the Bible more intensely, praying in his bedroom, and seeking deeper knowledge and truth in the scriptures.

Life-Transforming Visions

One particular night, Towani had a special vision: In the vision, he saw Jesus Christ on a podium, the podium had 4 big candles on its 4 corners. Jesus was preaching the gospel to people who were in total darkness. However, it turned out that the people could not understand the gospel, only Towani was able to understand the language Jesus was speaking. Then Towani was brought onto the podium along Jesus and Towani was made an interpreter for the Jesus; he started relaying the Jesus’ message to the people who then started understanding what was being preached and taught. Towani was then tasked with releasing the people from the darkness and bringing them into the light. This vision fueled his determination to seek God’s truths and knowledge more and more.

Return to Work and Continued Faith

After three years, Towani was recalled to his job. However, his return to work did not diminish his zeal for God and his commitment to prayer. His faith continued to grow, and he remained dedicated to his prayer and studying the word of God.

Divine Birth of Ministry

One day in the early 2000s, a group of five women came to Towani’s house seeking healing for a sick friend who had wounds on her head that had defied all medical treatment. They had heard about Towani’s daily prayers and came in search of healing. Reluctantly, Towani let them in. Standing at a distance from the sick woman, he stretched his hand towards her, lo and behold, God’s power mightily descended onto the woman and struck her flat onto the floor, this was a phenomenal experience to all those in the house, including Towani.

By divine intuition, Towani prophetically declared that the woman would start experiencing healing within three days. True to his declaration, the woman’s wounds began to heal, and she was completely healed in a short period.

This miraculous healing caused a stir in the community, and many sick people began coming to Towani’s house for prayers and healing. His ministry grew rapidly as people witnessed God’s mighty power through him, and many testimonies were being recorded, including those with cancer and many deadly diseases. His Compound soon became too small to accommodate the large gatherings, and his ministry continued to expand.

Marriage: Divine set up

Towani Zimba’s marriage was nothing short of divine arrangement. Seeing how quick the ministry was growing, Towani saw the need to have a companion, a helper in the ministry and at home. In 2002, Towani Zimba married Ethel Mphezi, one of the five women came to Towani’s house seeking healing for a sick friend before the start of the ministry.
Towani Zimba has 5 children, a daughter and 4 sons.

Leaving the civil service

After 17 years in the civil service, Towani resigned from the civil service.

Meanwhile, the ministry had just moved to a bigger place, a hall. Many people were flocking to the ministry seeking healing, deliverance and the undiluted word and power of God. In not more than 2 months, the new venue was packed. The massive influx of people did not sit well leaders and elders from other churches, they claimed Towani’s ministry was stealing their members. The Towani’s ministry started facing persecution.

The owners of the hall faced threats from church leaders who felt rivalled by Towani’s Ministry. They forced the hall owners to evict the ministry and stop the prayers all together. Before they could achieve their goal of evicting him, Towani went to City to apply for his own piece of land to build a church. He successfully acquired a piece of land where he built a church called Cross of Victory Pentecostal Church in area 18A, Lilongwe. The church was officially opened in 17th September in 2011. Towani Zimba is a hard worker, he constructed a magnificent church and guest wing. He also has a large piece of land for future church developments. He has so far managed all these developments without financial donors.

The church has been making television broadcasts via local Television channels and social its social media platforms (T Zimba Ministries).

The church continues to grow. Currently, the church has branches in all regions of Malawi: Lilongwe is the headquarters.
