In the Bible, God often uses physical objects or mediums to manifest His power. These objects—whether a staff, a stone, or even a shadow—are conduits through which God's power flows and His divine purposes are accomplished.
As it was in the past, so it is today. In the past, God was using different kinds of mediums in order to reveal his power of healing, deliverance and salvation of souls.
In our days, God is still using many mediums for healing, deliverance and salvation of souls. One such medium is the Covenant anointing salt.
In 2 Kings 2:19-22, salt was used to heal water so that it could be drinkable. Now think about this for a second. When salt is added to water, one gets salty water, not fresh water. Salty water is not drinkable. Now imagine what was going through the minds of those watching Elisha as he threw salt into the putrid water hole. It doesn’t make sense. Why would Elisha waste valuable salt by throwing it into already contaminated water? But behold! After Elisha threw the salt into the water, it “became wholesome”. How did the people know it was now really good to drink? They trusted their God enough to dip their hands into the water and draw it to their lips. Pouring salt into the water might have seemed crazy to the people, but when it comes to walking with God, this is what it takes; going against the way we normally think, to do what He prompts us to do.
According to Leviticus 2:13, God said; “Put salt on every grain offering because salt represents the covenant between you and God”. In this verse, salt has been used as a medium of agreement. Do not look at the physical salt, but look at the power of words behind the agreement.
Abijah king of Judah had 400 000 men when he faced Jeroboam king of Israel, who had 800 000 men. But just before engaging in war, Abijah said these words; “don’t you know that the Lord God of Israel had given the Kingship of Israel to David and his descendants forever by a covenant of salt?” 2 Chronicles 13:5. Can you imagine standing before an army twice as the size of your army. What happened next proves the power of this covenant. Jeroboam did not heed the words of Abijah so he went ahead to attack Abijah’s army, but 500 000 Jeroboam’s men died, the largest slaughter of mankind ever occurred in a day in all history, even to this very day. This was because Abijah had evoked the power of covenant in the salt! Hallelujah. Imagine the power of this covenant and Spirit filled believers walking in the power of this covenant of salt.
“Let your speech be full of grace seasoned with salt so that you may know how to answer everyone” Colossians 4:6. This verse is put to action when praying with the covenant salt. It is a metaphor of the speech one makes. The Covenant anointing salt “seasons” the speech with intelligence, wisdom, favour and consideration. It replaces failure with success. Instead of fear and anxiety, you will have peace.
The COVENANT SALT serves as instrument through which God meets His people in tangible ways. It's crucial to understand that the power does not lie in the physical salt itself but in God's covenants and promises working through the salt.
