AT HIS FEET

In Luke 10:39, the Bible says, “And she had a sister called Mary, who also sat at Jesus’ feet and heard His word.” While Martha busied herself with serving, Mary chose the better part to listen and learn from Jesus. Her position symbolized more than sitting; it was submission, attentiveness, and hunger for God’s voice. When we choose to sit at His feet, we silence the noise of the world and open our hearts to the whispers of heaven.

At His feet, we find rest for the weary soul. Jesus invites us in Matthew 11:28, “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” Many believers run to different places seeking peace  to people, possessions, or power yet true rest is only found in His presence. Sitting at His feet reminds us that we don’t need to strive to be accepted; we simply need to come.

At His feet, we experience forgiveness and grace. In Luke 7:37-38, a woman known for her sinful life came to Jesus, “and stood at His feet behind Him weeping; and began to wash His feet with her tears, and wiped them with the hair of her head.” She came broken, but she left forgiven. The closer we get to Jesus, the more His grace covers our past. No condemnation remains when we kneel before the One who calls us His own.

At His feet, we also find revelation and direction. When Mary sat at Jesus’ feet, she gained understanding that even His disciples often missed. Being near Him allows His Word to light our path. Psalm 119:105 reminds us, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” Those who linger in His presence don’t walk in confusion  they walk in divine clarity.

Finally, at His feet, we are empowered to rise and serve. After being filled and transformed, Jesus calls us to go out and share His love. The posture of sitting must lead to the action of serving. Like Mary who anointed His feet before His burial (John 12:3), our worship must overflow into acts of devotion and sacrifice.

Today, the Lord invites you to return to that sacred place  at His feet. Lay down your burdens, your pride, your distractions, and your fears. In that stillness, you will hear His heartbeat for you.
