DON’T CONDEMN YOURSELF

DON’T CONDEMN YOURSELF

Genesis 42:1–6

There are moments in life when your greatest enemy is not the person standing against you it is the voice inside your own mind.

You remember what you did. You remember where you failed. You remember the opportunities you wasted. And sometimes, even when God has forgiven you, you continue condemning yourself.

But today, I came to remind somebody: DON’T CONDEMN YOURSELF.

In Genesis 42, Jacob’s sons are facing a famine. There is no food in Canaan and Jacob hears that Egypt has grain. So he tells his sons, “Go down there and buy some for us, so that we may live and not die.”

These brothers had a history.

Years earlier, they had taken Joseph, their own brother and sold him into slavery. They had deceived their father and allowed him to believe that Joseph was dead.

Now, years later, they find themselves standing in Egypt.

And what they did not know was that the man controlling the food supply was Joseph—the brother they had betrayed.

Imagine the emotions.

Imagine the guilt.

Imagine the fear.

They were standing before the very person connected to their greatest mistake.

But notice something powerful: God was still working in their lives.

Their past did not stop God's plan.

Their failure did not cancel their future.

Their mistake did not make them useless to God.

Somebody needs to hear this: What you did is part of your history, but it does not have to become your identity.

The enemy wants you to keep replaying yesterday until you become afraid to step into tomorrow.

He says, “You failed.”

God says, “Get back up.”

He says, “You are finished.”

God says, “I am not finished with you.”

He says, “You don't deserve another opportunity.”

But God says, “My grace is greater than your failure.”

Joseph's brothers had to face the consequences of their past but God was also leading them toward restoration.

Sometimes God will allow you to come face-to-face with the things you regret—not to destroy you but to transform you.

So don't condemn yourself.

Repent when you are wrong.

Learn from your mistakes.

Make things right where you can.

But don't build a prison around yourself because of something God is willing to forgive.

Romans 8:1 says, “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus.”

You may have made mistakes but you are not your mistakes.

You may have fallen, but you are not disqualified.

You may have a painful past but God can still give you a powerful future.

The same brothers who once sold Joseph would eventually bow before him, fulfilling the dream God had given Joseph years before.

What they thought was the end of the story was actually part of God's greater plan.

So lift your head.

Stop condemning yourself.

Receive God's mercy.

Walk forward in grace.
