Blessings are the gifts that we receive from God, often in the form of grace, love, health, prosperity, and peace. These blessings are meant to enrich our lives, help us grow spiritually, and enable us to fulfill our divine purpose. However, there are times in life when we may feel that our blessings have been stolen, lost, or taken from us due to various circumstances. Whether it be through personal struggles, loss, poor decisions, or external forces, it’s easy to feel as though the blessings we once had have slipped away. The good news is that recovery is possible. "Recovering the Stolen Blessings" is about reclaiming the divine gifts that were taken from us and restoring them to their rightful place in our lives.
The first step in recovering stolen blessings is recognizing that blessings come from God and that nothing can be taken away from us without God's permission. The Bible teaches that God is in control of all things, and while we may face seasons of difficulty and hardship, He can restore what has been lost. In the book of Joel, it says, "I will restore to you the years that the locusts have eaten" (Joel 2:25). This promise reminds us that even when it feels like our blessings have been eaten away by misfortune, God has the power to restore and redeem all that was lost.
Blessings are stolen through personal mistakes or sinful choices. Decisions that go against God's will can create a wedge between us and the blessings that God intends for us. In these moments, recovery begins with repentance and a return to God. When we acknowledge our wrongdoings and seek forgiveness, God, in His mercy, is quick to forgive and heal us. The act of turning back to God and asking for His help to restore our blessings is a powerful step toward recovery. As we submit to His guidance and trust in His plan, we open the door for His restoration to begin.
Another way blessings can be stolen is through external forces, such as the actions of others or even the enemy of our souls. Life’s challenges, whether they are financial struggles, health issues, or relational problems, can make us feel as if we have lost our sense of peace and joy. It’s important to understand that God is not blind to our pain and suffering. In fact, He sees every injustice and is actively working on our behalf. The Bible reminds us in Romans 8:28 that "all things work together for good to those who love God." This includes the trials we face and the blessings that seem to have been taken away. Through faith, we trust that God will use these challenges to refine us and bring us into a season of restoration.
Recovering stolen blessings involves reclaiming the right mindset. It requires us to shift from a victim mentality to one of victory. Instead of focusing on what was lost, we must focus on what God has in store for us. In Philippians 3:13-14, Paul writes, “One thing I do: forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” By letting go of past regrets, hurts, and losses, we position ourselves to receive God’s blessings once again.
