In today’s busy world, it’s easy to lose focus. We get caught up in chasing careers, relationships, money, or people’s approval. Sometimes, we even put our own comfort before anything else. And while we might still love Jesus, we often give Him whatever time or energy we have left. But the Bible reminds us that Jesus isn’t just meant to be a part of our lives—He’s meant to be everything.

In Colossians 1:17, the apostle Paul says, “He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.” This shows us that Jesus isn’t just important—He’s the one who holds our entire lives together. He should be the center of everything we do.

Saying “Jesus over everything” means we choose Him first. We put Him above our plans, our problems, our fears, and even our wants. It’s not something we do just once—it’s a decision we make every day. In Matthew 6:33, Jesus said, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” This means that when we put God first, everything else will fall into place.

When we choose to make Jesus our top priority, it changes how we live. He gives us peace when we feel anxious, order when life feels messy, and direction when we feel lost. Life may not always be easy, but Jesus promises to walk with us through every storm. When He is truly over everything in our lives, we stop feeling overwhelmed by every little thing that happens. Instead, we can live with peace and strength, knowing He’s in control.

The real danger isn’t that we’ll stop believing in Jesus—it’s that we’ll slowly let other things take His place. We get so busy that we skip prayer, stop reading the Bible, and lose our hunger to know Him more. But Jesus offers us something better: a life where He is at the center. In Philippians 3:8, Paul says, “I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord.” When we understand how amazing Jesus is, everything else becomes less important.

Let’s be people who truly live out the words Jesus over everything. Over our dreams. Over our struggles. Over our mistakes and our victories. Over our relationships, our choices, and our time. When we put Jesus first, everything else finds its right place.
