DAILY SURRENDER

Each day we wake up, we’re faced with a decision will we live for ourselves, or will we surrender to God’s will? Surrender is not a one-time act but a daily commitment. It’s about yielding our thoughts, plans, desires, and decisions to the Lord, trusting that His ways are higher and His plans are better than our own. In Luke 9:23, Jesus said, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.” Notice the word daily. True discipleship is not based on occasional devotion but on a lifestyle of consistent surrender.

Daily surrender is often not easy. Human nature wants control over our time, our relationships, and our future. But when we try to take the lead, we often end up stressed, anxious, or discouraged. God invites us into a better way: to trust Him wholeheartedly and let Him guide our steps. Proverbs 3:5–6 reminds us, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Surrender is an act of trust. It's admitting that we don't have all the answers and acknowledging that God does.

When we surrender daily, we open the door for God's peace to rule in our hearts. Instead of striving in our own strength, we rely on His. Instead of worrying about what’s next, we rest in His promises. Surrender doesn't mean giving up responsibility or becoming passive; it means placing everything under God's authority and being willing to obey Him, even when we don’t understand the full picture.

Jesus modeled perfect surrender. In the Garden of Gethsemane, just before His crucifixion, He prayed, “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done” (Luke 22:42). Even in pain and fear, He yielded to the Father's will. That is the heart of surrender not my will, but Yours, Lord. Every morning, we can pray that same prayer: “Lord, I surrender today to You. Have Your way in my thoughts, words, and actions.”

Daily surrender brings freedom. It frees us from the burden of always having to figure things out. It frees us from fear, because we know God is in control. It frees us from pride, because we acknowledge our need for Him. And it fills us with purpose, because we are living not for ourselves, but for the One who gave His life for us.

So today, let us choose to lay down our own agendas and pick up our cross. Let us walk in obedience, trust, and peace, knowing that God's plans are far greater than anything we could imagine. Surrender is not weakness it is strength found in Christ. May we make it our daily rhythm and our daily joy.
