SEEDS OF FAITH

Planting a seed requires trust. You push it beneath the soil, out of sight, where it waits in darkness. You cannot dig it up daily to check on it; doing so would harm it. Instead, you water it, protect it, and believe that something is happening below the surface. Likewise, seeds of faith are planted in our hearts  often through hearing God’s Word (“Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of Christ”  Romans 10:17).

The beginning is humble. Faith doesn’t leap to full maturity instantly. Like a seed, it needs time to take root. The conditions may seem harsh  storms of doubt, winds of discouragement, or the dryness of unanswered prayers. Yet Scripture reminds us, “We walk by faith, not by sight” (2 Corinthians 5:7). Challenges do not destroy faith; they strengthen its roots.

Patience is essential. The Bible says, “Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up” (Galatians 6:9). Seeds ignore our timelines; they follow God’s seasons: sowing, waiting, sprouting, growing, and bearing fruit. The small “yes” you give God today can become a mighty tree tomorrow  providing shelter, shade, and nourishment to many.

Not every seed grows the same way. Some sprout quickly; others lie dormant until God’s appointed time. But we are called to nurture what we’ve been given. “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it” (Proverbs 4:23). Remove the weeds of fear, resentment, and unbelief. Feed your faith with the truth of God’s promises. Keep it in the light of His presence.

Seeds multiply. Jesus spoke of the good soil that produced “a crop, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty” (Matthew 13:8). When your faith grows, it inspires others. Your trust in God can plant new seeds in the lives of your family, friends and even strangers. You may not always see the results, but as Paul wrote, “I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth” (1 Corinthians 3:6).
