MOMENTS OF GRACE

The apostle Paul reminds us, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God” (Ephesians 2:8). Every believer can look back and see moments when God’s grace rescued them from sin, lifted them from despair, or gave them strength to keep going. These moments are gifts, not rewards. They come not because of our goodness, but because of His great love.

One of the most beautiful truths of Scripture is that God’s grace is sufficient for every season of life. Paul, in his weakness, heard the Lord say, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9). This means that in our weakest, most fragile moments, God’s grace is at its strongest. When we cannot carry ourselves, His grace carries us. When our strength fails, His grace supplies what we need.

Moments of grace also appear in the daily blessings we often overlook: the sunrise that paints the sky with hope, the provision of food and shelter, the comfort of family and friends, or even the peace we feel after prayer. James 1:17 reminds us, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights.” Every kindness, every answered prayer, every breath we take is evidence of God’s grace at work.

Sometimes grace shows up in unexpected places through forgiveness when we least deserve it, through protection we didn’t even know we needed, or through doors God opens when we thought all hope was gone. “From his fullness we have all received grace upon grace” (John 1:16). His grace is not limited; it flows continuously, like a river, washing over our lives day by day.

Living with an awareness of God’s grace changes how we see the world. Instead of dwelling on what is lacking, we begin to recognize the countless ways God’s hand is guiding, providing, and loving us. Grace teaches us humility, because we know we could never earn it. Grace teaches us gratitude, because we see every blessing as a gift. Grace teaches us compassion, because the same mercy that forgives us compels us to forgive others.

As we journey through life, let us pause and notice these moments of grace. Let us thank God not only for the extraordinary miracles but also for the quiet ways He works in the ordinary. When we stumble, His grace lifts us. When we stray, His grace calls us back. When we surrender, His grace fills us with peace.

Truly, each day is filled with moments of grace if only we open our eyes to see them.
