FINDING PEACE

In a world filled with noise, chaos, and constant change, peace can seem like something distant or even impossible. Many people search for peace in possessions, achievements, or relationships, yet they still feel anxious inside. True peace is not the absence of problems; it is the presence of God. And Jesus promises to give us this peace His own peace.

The peace Jesus offers is not like the fragile peace the world gives, which depends on circumstances. It is deep, steady, and unshaken even when storms come. Philippians 4:6–7 reminds us, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

This peace “guards” our hearts like a protective shield. When we surrender our worries to God through prayer, He exchanges our anxiety for His calm assurance. Peace flows not from control, but from trust trusting that God is in control even when we are not.

Isaiah 26:3 says, “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.” Peace comes when we fix our minds on God rather than on our fears. When our focus shifts from the problem to the One who holds all things together, our hearts begin to rest. It is not about ignoring the storm but knowing who is in the boat with us Jesus, the Prince of Peace.

Finding peace also means choosing to forgive and let go of bitterness. Unforgiveness can quietly steal peace from our hearts. Colossians 3:15 urges, “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.” Letting His peace “rule” means allowing it to guide our thoughts, decisions and relationships.

Peace is not something we manufacture; it is something we receive as we abide in Christ daily. We feed our souls with His Word, spend time in prayer, and worship Him even in our struggles. The more we draw near to God, the more His peace fills every corner of our hearts.

No matter what surrounds us, we can walk in peace because we know who walks with us. Jesus has overcome the world (John 16:33), and in Him, we are safe, loved and secure.
